MarketVision Consumer TV – Brazil’s Emerging C Class

Blue Ash, OH - - More than half of Brazil is now made up of what is officially called “Class C”, more commonly known as their middle class.  Over the last twenty years, this group has grown nearly 40% and is the main contributing factor to fast growth of Brazil’s economy.

“We talked with 20 people aged 21-69, in Sao Paulo, Brazil, who are classified in Brazil’s Class-C, and all have two of the following: Internet, a mobile phone and/or cable,” Brad Weiss, Research Director, explains.

When asked about the biggest difference in their lives over the last 5-10 years, consumers mention mobile phones and having Internet access.  Their favorite brands reflect quality and integrity of the companies and tended to be technology or clothing brands.  Luxury in the C-Class represents the status, and means owning big imported cars, a yacht, or a beach house.  Favorite TV show is still “soap operas,” despite television station proliferation there.  Brazil has one of the largest television networks in the world.

“As the C-Class expands, I think it will be interesting to watch the development of retail – both brick and mortar and online,” Weiss comments.
MarketVision invites you to view this episode to immerse yourself in Brazil’s emerging C-Class consumer.
